Next I learned at the beginning of the year through Twitter that it is easy to connect and find people who are similar to you through social networking tools all over the world. I was able to connect and meet a fellow Nigerian friend who resides in Nigeria who I am able to stay connected with and find out what is happening to him in Nigeria on a day to day basis. With me being from Nigeria and only getting a chance to go back maybe once a year if I am lucky, it is very helpful to stay connected with a fellow Nigerian through that social networking tool which provides updates on what is happening there by a personal account or experience.

Finally, another thing I learned was towards the end of the semester while we watched the documentary, The Corporation, during class. Watching that film made me a little upset at first because I did not agree with many things they were saying about corporations being bad and evil. I always thought many corporations were good with an exception of a few. For our last written assignment, our argument essay, I chose to write about how I thought that many corporations were in deed good instead of them being bad like they portrayed in the film. While writing this, I learned the rogarian argument style which allowed me to look at my argument topic from two perspectives. One of course from my perspective, and look at from the other perspective with people who really thought they were bad and sort of agreeing or coming to a middle ground with this perspective. Before this class, if I was to give an argument, I would most likely just focus on my perspective and why I think I am right and not even worry about the other perspective of the argument. However, after this class, I now know to always weigh both sides of an argument because you never know, I could be wrong and the other side could be right or vice versa.

After the game we got to meet up and talk with our friend and we could tell by the look on the his face that it really meant a lot to him for us to drive 5 hours just to come see him play his last game when we could have very well stayed home like some of our other friends did. Not only did it mean a lot to him, but it also meant a lot to his parents and family and that is what it is all about. We later got a text from him saying how much it meant to him for us to come all that way to support him and that made me feel so good about myself.

Today I plan on going to the gym in a little bit to make myself feel better about eating all that food because right now I feel bloated and I do not like to feel like this. Now my workout later today might be a little pointless later on tonight because my friends and I plan on going out big tonight but at least I will feel better about myself for working out, and that is what counts right?

Whenever I come home from school, my mom feels like I should just relax and not have to worry about doing anything which is why she does everything for me and I guess in way, pampers me. I am OK with it because I know a lot of my friends and people out there would love for their mom to treat them like my mom does to me whenever they come home from break. Whenever I go back to school from break, it just makes me appreciate my mom that much more every time for the little things she does for me and hope I can repay her in the near future.

It was also a very beautiful today and I practiced well, worked out, and got to do all the things I wanted when I normally don’t get to because of having class. I feel I really need to take advantage of this break and catch up on my sleep because I know when I get back from this break on Sunday, the next two weeks are going to be miserable since I will have a lot of projects to get ready for and a test. That means no sleep for me since I like to study all night until I feel like I know the material like the back of my hand.

So as you can see, I don’t really have time to relax during this break when you should be able to relax and take time off from school work during the holidays. Instead the only day I will have to relax is on Thanksgiving day because I will be too busy stuffing myself with food all day.

I know that after we lost that heart breaker to Utah a couple weeks ago, everyone on campus was down. TCU would have gotten about $14 million just for making a BCS Bowl game so not only was the school down about not making the bowl game, so was the athletic department, especially our tennis coach. Our budget would have went way up if they made it to the BSC bowl game so our coach was not happy about that.

Also I know a lot of my friends after that lost to Utah and having no chance to make it to a BSC bowl game did not care about TCU football anymore and didn’t even go to the last game yesterday against Air Force. I feel you should still support your school sport’s teams weather they win or lose and the fact that my friend on the team does not feel they get the support they deserve for accomplishing all that they did is not good at all.

Well after he broke my chain, I was really upset. He kept saying not to worry about it because he would pay however much to get another one but the fact was he acted so careless that caused to be without a chain until i was able to go back home and actually get the money from him. I should have been smarter about letting him wear it because it was an expensive chain and I don’t usually let my friends wear my personal things that I care a lot about. This was a good lesson in teaching me not to let my friends wear or have anything that I care so much about and is expensive at the same time.

A lot of athletes know it takes a lot of practice to be good at what they do but are not willing to put in the necessary practice hours to accomplish this. I do not like hearing people saying they want to be the best when they do not put the work in, but want to make fun of something who is working hard so they can be as good as they can. These last few weeks I have really learned that if you practice and focus hard for a certain period of time, you can improve just like that.

My dad is the hardest worker I know. He is a doctor and sometimes I can go a whole week except Sundays seeing him because that is his day of rest. He is either sleeping when I come home or I am sleeping when he comes home. Also, in the morning he has either already left for work or I have already left the house in the morning so we end up missing each other again. All the handwork he does has paid off for him and has made him as successful as he is today and I hope when I grow up that I will inherit his traits to become just as successful or even more successful than my father.
